With 2019 well underway, we would like to take this opportunity to wish all our delegates and clients a very happy new year from the Derma Medical team.
Now that 2018 has come to a close, we have spent some time reflecting on what an incredible year it was. In true Derma Medical style, it was packed full of new ventures all over the world. Today we will be sharing exactly what we got up to, as well as some exciting plans for 2019!
What Did We Get Up To in 2018?
We started 2018 by launching our first aesthetic training courses in Dubai. In January, we headed over to the United Arab Emirates to watch Dr Zack Ally deliver our lip and advanced masterclasses to doctors from around the Middle East and further afield. The feedback from the course was overwhelmingly positive, and so following the success of our first training weekend, we returned in May and September and now run regular courses in Dubai every 3-4 months.
As 2018 continued, so did our expansion. We launched our masterclasses in more of our international training academies. The lip masterclass and advanced masterclass in facial contouring have proved a popular follow-on after completing our combined course. In February we launched masterclasses in both Manchester and Stockholm. Our team then began teaching the masterclasses in Brisbane, allowing our Australian delegates the opportunity to master their craft. As we add more venues to our training roster, we plan to offer our masterclasses in an increasing number of locations.
It was also a big year for Derma Medical in Australia. In May, Dr Zack Ally headed over to Melbourne to lead our first combined anti-wrinkle and dermal fillers course there. We also launched the combined course in Perth in October. All the while we continued to run regular courses in Brisbane, as well as the aforementioned masterclass expert package in this location. Our structured, landmark based training has proved hugely popular in Australia and we plan to offer a full portfolio of regular courses across all major cities.
Closer to home, we have also been busy in the UK. In January we launched the complete cosmetic clinician package in London. This allows delegates to complete our combined course, lip and advanced masterclasses back to back in 4 days. This has proved a great option with many overseas delegates looking to complete all their training during one trip. We then ran our first PDO thread lift course in June and teamed up with Intraline to teach with their latest “cog threads”. In November we ran our first courses in Birmingham as part of our plan to further expand our UK footprint. Derma Medical now has weekly courses in London, monthly courses in Manchester and bi-monthly courses in Birmingham.
We also wanted to strengthen our aftercare package so that delegates could access further training after completing our face to face courses. In September we launched online training videos covering all major treatment areas available on our courses. In the videos, Dr Zack explains each treatment and demonstrates best practice on a live cosmetic model. This is an excellent additional tool for aesthetic practitioners wanting to refresh their knowledge after attending a course.
What Do We Plan To Do in 2019?
2019 got off to a great start with the launch of our new Artistic Facial Transformation course. This Masterclass, developed and taught by Dr Zack Ally is “the” course to take if you want to stand out in the world of facial aesthetics. You will need to have previously completed our Lip Masterclass and Advanced Masterclass in Facial Contouring as this course draws on many of the techniques first learned in both courses. Dr Ally will demonstrate different combination treatment plans using up to 10 ml of dermal fillers to completely transform our patients faces. The course premiered in Dubai where it will now become a regular feature. We will also be teaching the AFT course on a monthly basis in London.
Its going to be another big year in Australia as we continue to expand a range of courses and venues down under. In January we host our first combined cosmetic injectables course in Sydney. This course is already fully booked, however we will be back there again in April 2019 if you missed out. The masterclass expert programme will be launching in Melbourne from April, with plans to extend this to Perth and Sydney later in the year. Finally, we plan to open our fifth Australian training academy in Adelaide towards the end of 2019. More details to follow on this soon!
There are also plans for more venues in Europe in 2019. In March we will be travelling to Porto, Portugal to launch our first aesthetic training course in Southern Europe. Dr Melanie Castelhano and the Portuguese team will be joined by Dr Zack Ally as we teach delegates from Portugal, Spain and South America. A week later, we are in Edinburgh, Scotland and Dr Zack Ally will this time be joined by Dr Maya Shahsavari for the opening course. Edinburgh becomes our 4th regular training venue in the UK and Porto our 6th in Europe. Let us know your suggestions for where we should come next!
In February we are launching a completely new course to help aesthetic practitioners get ahead in business. The complete guide to aesthetic business for medical professionals is aimed at all levels to really understand some of the more technical nuances of business. Delegates will leave with a clear understanding of accounting, VAT, business strategy, marketing and have the mindset of a real entrepreneur, amongst other key skills. If you are an aesthetic practitioner looking to start or grow your own clinic, this course is for you.
With regular courses now running in Europe, The Middle East and Australia, Our next big project is to cross the Atlantic and offer courses in the United States. We are busy making plans for this at the moment, so watch this space for more details very soon!
Delegates can choose the order of the courses and how far apart you whether to complete all days close together or spread them out over a number of months. All we ask is that you start with our Foundation course as this teaches you some of the fundamentals needed for the other 3 courses.
