• SETTING THE GOLD STANDARD IN AESTHETIC TRAINING

The use of blunt microcannulas to inject dermal fillers has become increasingly popular. The use of a Microcannula involves inserting a soft, flexible blunt tipped cannula into specific anatomical regions of the face to administer dermal fillers with an aim of restoring volume, shape and contour as well as reducing facial lines. The evidence suggests that by using a Microcannula the risks of vascular occlusion and nerve damage are greatly reduced, whilst bruising and pain are also minimised.

With the increased usage of this injection technique, the need for formalised training is essential for both beginners in the use of Microcannula, and also for those whom are intermediate and advanced practitioners. Ongoing training is needed to improve and enhance techniques and to continue professional development in order to become a more specialised Aesthetic Practitioner.

The Derma Medical Microcannula Masterclass Course was developed in conjunction with Dr Zack Ally and his senior Trainer Dr Chike Emeagi who both have extensive practical experience in the use of all currently available cannulae.

Derma Medical offer its delegates this hands-on training course to prepare them to use microcannulas in a safe and effective manner for facial rejuvenation using dermal fillers, and as a result provide much safer and comfortable aesthetic facial treatments to their clients.

The Microcannula course will equip Aesthetics Practitioners with the knowledge and skills needed to use different sized cannulas, whilst teaching them how to create an entry point in the skin using different gauge needles to allow a smooth, atraumatic insertion of the cannula for each specific area.

Delegates will also gain more detailed knowledge regarding the relevant regional and topographical anatomy, physiology of ageing, side effects of techniques, complications and aftercare considerations.

The Course begins with a detailed presentation allowing time for questions and concerns. The session will explore cannula designs, indications and the recommended cannula sizes required for aesthetic treatments, in relation to differing anatomical areas, and the technical advantages.

Explanation of cannula vs needles-when to select which and advantages/ disadvantages of both. When to use cannulas for a specific area and the different Microcannula approaches/ techniques and their anatomical considerations incorporating clinical safety. Discussion will be had about managing a variety of side effects, complications and how to address patient concerns.

Facial areas to be covered, in relation to the placement of facial dermal fillers with a Microcannula include- Forehead, Temples, Tear-Trough, Mid-Face, Lips, Naso-labials, Marionette and Jawline. Firm emphasis will be placed on facial anatomy and the proper choice of cannula and technique.

Learning is facilitated through demonstration and practical approaches with close supervision and support from faculty. There will be hands-on injections with live models.

There is an Initial demonstration of cannula techniques on a real patient model by the Trainer. The remaining time will be spent undertaking practical work on live models under the supervision of our fully trained Aesthetic Doctors. We will have patient model cases each with a mix of Aesthetic indications for specific facial procedures suitable for cannula.
